The University Hospital Heidelberg is one of the major healthcare centers in Germany. Our objective is the development of innovative diagnostics and therapies as well as their quick implementation for the patient. Post-Doctoral Research Associate
(group leader position)
(3 years contract with possibility for renewal)

in the field of molecular and cellular mechanisms of inherited metabolic diseases.

We are looking for a person (background in molecular or cell biology) with a profound experience in the development of disease models and drug test systems based on iPS technology. Strong cell culture experience and expertise with stem cells, as well as experience in human (or mouse) iPS culture is a must. Expected standard knowledge: RNA isolation, PCR, ELISA assays, flow cytometry, immunostaining, autoradiograms and photomicrographs; executing biochemical procedures such as electrophoresis, blotting, chromatography, DNA extractions, cell imaging, reporter gene construct design, and development (molecular cloning). Knowledge in the field of inherited neurometabolic disorders is of advantage.

Candidates should be highly self-motivated, have strong organizational skills, be able to work in a research team environment and have experience authoring and publishing research articles. Languages: English and German.

Starting date: May 2014
