specializing in Modeling and Simulation of Traffic Networks

in the Research Training Group (RTG) “Social Cars – (de-)centralized traffic management“ funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The position is offered for a period of two years.

The overall objective of the SocialCars RTG is to research new methods and applications of decentralized, cooperative traffic management. SocialCars focuses on the interplay of centralized management in the sense of classical traffic control, and decentralized management in the sense of the local goals of individual traffic participants. A cross-cutting methodological topic of the RTG is the simulation of systems and networks, covering aspects such as traffic flow, communication, distributed systems and agents, including the description and simulation of user behavior. The PostDoc should conduct independent research in this area in collaboration with the participants in the program.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background and a very good PhD in one of the disciplines of the RTG, with special focus on modeling and simulation. A very good command of the English language is required. The candidate should conduct independent research together with the other participants in the RTG and will bring in his/her methodological expertise into both the research and the course program of the RTG.
