The German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) Potsdam-Rehbrücke is an independent foundation and member of the Leibniz Association, an alliance of scientific institutions. PhD students
In the group Microbiota and Inflammation in the department Gastrointestinal Microbiology
Tasks:
The PhD student will investigate how the host nutritional status affects the gut microbiota in patients suffering from Crohn's disease. The project involves close collaborations with the Department of Gastroenterology at the Charité University Clinic in Berlin, and the Texas Children's Microbiome Center.
Skills and requirements:
Excellent university Master degree in Medical Science or Microbiology
Ideally: experience with human clinical studies
Preferable: knowledge of mass spectrometry and/or next generation sequencing technologies
We are expecting applicants with a high degree of motivation, ability to team work, autonomy, excellent skills in English (written and spoken) and the willingness to work in an interactive research environment.
The institute offers excellent working conditions in an interactive and multidisciplinary research environment, with state-of-the-art equipment, qualified training and enrolment in a local PhD program. PhD position will be paid according to the terms of the civil service collective bargaining act (TV-L 50 % of level E13).
