Distributed Security Protocols

The Norwegian Information Security Laboratory (NISlab) is one of Europe’s largest academic research groups in cyber security. NISlab covers a large part of the cyber security field, including crypto, critical infrastructure protection, cyber defence, and computational forensics, biometrics, and information security management. NISlab is actively embedded in the global research community and has English as its working language. NISlab operates Scandinavia’s only Bachelor, Master and Ph.D. programmes dedicated solely to information security. The laboratory collaborates closely with national security, defence and law enforcement authorities, and has been selected to lead a national research school in information security.

NISlab is a section of the Faculty of Computer Science and Media Technology at Gjøvik University College (GUC), located about an hour from Norway’s main international airport. The NISlab invites excellent candidates to apply for:

One Postdoctoral Research Fellow funded for 24 months

to work on the project TacticS (Tactical Service-Oriented Architectures) under the European Defence Agency (EDA)’s IAP4 programme in collaboration with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) at the Norwegian Information Security Laboratory (NISlab) to be based in Gjøvik, Norway.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:

Background in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field
Strong abilities in modelling and analysis of algorithms
Experience in programming and software development suitable for concept and prototype development and simulations
Ideally relevant background in mobile networks, network security, or service-oriented architectures
Excellent written and good oral English communication skills

Candidates will be able to enroll in the Information Security or Computer Science doctoral programs at GUC and can also participate in the COINS research school (https://www.coinsrs.no). A commensurate publication track record is expected.

Candidates should hold NATO member state citizenship, and some additional restrictions may apply. Candidates must be able to secure a residency and work permit in Norway.

Job description

The PDRA researcher will work closely with a Ph.D. candidate and focus on policy-adaptable lightweight distributed algorithms and protocols mainly for securing transactional protocols that can be re-configured and re-started efficiently for use in DTN environments. The grant will be offered to the successful candidate for a period of 2 years, where 100% of this time is assigned to the Ph.D. study and research. Office location will be in Gjøvik.

Starting date for the positions is as soon as possible.

Salary
Approximately NOK 518.000 (62.000 EUR/85.000 USD) gross PA for a 100%. Taxes and medical insurance is deducted at approximately 30%.
