装备制造业作为福建省三大主导产业之一，近年来发展迅速，已具备国内行业领先竞争优势，拥有福建省汽车工业集团有限公司、福建省船舶工业集团公司、ABB企业、厦门金龙汽车集团股份有限公司、正兴车轮集团有限公司、厦门太古飞机工程有限公司、福建南平太阳电缆股份有限公司等一批福建省重点培育的百亿大企业。
围绕我省装备制造产业发展需要，特别是针对船舶修造、汽车制造、工程机械、电工电器、环保设备、飞机维修等六大装备制造优势产业及新能源汽车、海洋工程装备、智能化装备、电机及输配电设备、轨道交通、节能环保设备等六大装备制造新兴产业，我们向海外征集高层次人才和高新技术项目，届时征集到的人才与项目将推介给我省装备制造产业集聚区、重点企业、高等院校、科研院所等单位。在推介和供需双方网上沟通对接的基础上，将邀请一批有意来闽创业、工作或开展智力服务的海外留学博士于6月下旬在福州、厦门、泉州等地召开人才与项目专场对接洽谈会。
