15 PhD scholarships and European Joint Doctorate programme on resource recovery from wastewater
SuPER-W, a "European Joint Doctorate" programme on Product, Energy and Resource Recovery from Wastewater funded by the European Marie Sklodowska-Curie action programme (Horizon 2020), currently offers 15 3-year PhD scholarships and a comprehensive joint doctoral training programme to highly motivated young scientists. It is organised by a consortium of 5 renowned European universities (Ghent University (Belgium), TU Delft (the Netherlands), RWTH Aachen University (Germany), University of Chemistry and Technology Prague (Czech Republic), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech (Spain)) in collaboration with a wide range of non-academic partner organisations. The doctoral training programme provides local expert training at the academic and non-academic partner organisations, a network-wide secondment scheme, internships and an intense series of network-wide training sessions, workshops and seminars. It is also feasible to subscribe to the doctoral training programme when having own PhD scholarship opportunities.

Specific Requirements:
• Eligible candidates applying for a PhD scholarship may be of any nationality but must not, at the time of recruitment have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately prior to the reference date.
• Candidates applying for a PhD scholarship must be, at the time of recruitment by the home organisation, in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers and have not yet been awarded a doctoral degree. This is measured from the date when they obtained the Master degree that would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate.
• Proficiency in the English language (writing, understanding and speaking) is essential. The candidate must be able to provide proof of English proficiency at the application stage.
• The candidates must hold a MSc Degree to be obtained at the latest in July 2016. The areas in which the MSc Degree should be obtained are different for the different fellowships and mentioned in the description of the fellowships (see www.superw.ugent.be).
• Candidates having an own PhD scholarship applying for participation in the SuPER-W doctoral training programme should propose their own PhD topic and have obtained the agreement of at least one SuPER-W staff member to act as their promoter.
