Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Optical Spectroscopy of Semiconductor Nanowires

Grade 7: £30,434 - £37,394 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Optical Spectroscopy of Semiconductor Nanowires. The post is fixed-term and available for a period of 36 months.

This project will examine doping and hetero-interfaces in single crystal semiconductor nanowires/nanocolumns with the ultimate aim of developing semiconductor nanowires for implementation in nanoscale optoelectronics devices and next-generation solar cells. The successful candidate will focus on photophysical investigations of semiconductor nanowires, in close collaboration with researchers working on material and device development. For this purpose they will utilise and further develop existing confocal micro-photoluminescence and optical time-resolved spectroscopy systems.

Applicants should possess, or be very close to obtaining a doctorate in physics or a related field and have a strong background in spatially resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy and the science of semiconductor nanowires. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, as evident from a strong publication record, and to work successfully as part of a larger research team.

The postholder will have the opportunity to teach.
